Considering Nokotn 35 / 1.4 for Leica M5 use. Likely new version II SC. Anyone experienced any issues, especially focusing accuracy? Would also appreciate any comments on the combination.

What about filters ?

They are 43mm instead of the Leica standard 39mm. I have 52mm filters coming out of my ears, I have 49mm filters coming out of my ears, I have 39mm filters coming out of my ears, I have 55mm filters coming out of my ears, even a selection of series V and series VI. Damned if I am going to add 43mm.

OK that's what I thought. I have no such problem as I have a collection of 43s.

Fair enough.... but the standard filter size for classic Summilux lenses has always been 43mm. It's certainly an easier size to find that 34mm (new VC Heliar) or 40mm (Canon LTM).....

H, it's a lovely lens wide open and sharp stopped down. Certainly a much cheaper option that a Leitz Summilux.
I had one for a little while....really a character lens @1.4

@GregY That's appreciated. I think I'm now leaning towards MC version, will see one tomorrow and try the handling before purchase. I'm not spending Leica bucks for lens line up outside of what I have from Barnacks, none being from the "royal" end of things.

Wasnt the only compatiliaby issue when you tried the CL-specific lenses (40mm, 90mm) on M bodies?

For anyone who wonders too, I bought the lens today. It feels premium, mechanically it certainly complements precision of the M5 very well. Focusing is buttery, as is everything about the lens. I also bought an after market hood, which to me looks and functions a lot better than original LH6, it looks premium and is made same way (and it's half price of original hood). Also, speaking of this hood, it does NOT hinder use of filters (some on net tried to argue they cannot fit hood on lens with filter on, which is pure nonsense.

Hood obstructs corner in finder just a bit, but nothing that would interfere with framing. I have a second version coming tomorrow, same maker, but hood has small outside frame overall, so am not yet sure which I will keep. But this one feels premium and perfect match.

I'm yet to shoot a roll, but dry run indicates good handling, perfect balance on M5, and thumb focus as smooth as one would want to wish.
