VOIGTLANDER FILTER

I do not know much about filters. I have a yellow VOIGTLANDER filter that reads G 3x LW-1.5,can someone please provide information regarding use with b&w film?

A yellow filter gives a very natural look to black and white film, it is a good filter to leave on for landscape, although for a more dramatic look to a sky an orange filter is better, many of the greats would not leave home without it on, if using a slr with TTL metering then that will take care of the extra exposure you will need, for me, with MF without TTL metering I simply set the ISO speed to i stop down for example when using 400 film for Yellow I would set the meter to 200 and for orange 100,

Your filter states that the correction factor is LW-1.5. That means you need to open your lens aperture approximately 1.5 f-stops to correct for the amount of light that is absorbed by the filter.
An alternate: hold the filter in front of the sensor of your hand-held light meter (if you use one) and measure through the filter. Then just use the exposure as indicated on the meter.
