A yellow filter gives a very natural look to black and white film, it is a good filter to leave on for landscape, although for a more dramatic look to a sky an orange filter is better, many of the greats would not leave home without it on, if using a slr with TTL metering then that will take care of the extra exposure you will need, for me, with MF without TTL metering I simply set the ISO speed to i stop down for example when using 400 film for Yellow I would set the meter to 200 and for orange 100,
