Optics are all the same and fantastic. Difference being the SL2 versions lose the AI prong and gain the electronics and chip thingy for those sad sacks that use these on high fallutin' fancy pants matrix metering AF cameras. All other differences are in the cosmetics.

(I often use mine on an F6..)

Sweet lens - mine is one of the high fallutin' versions.

You can probably find a used copy, in excellent condition, in the 300-350 range. I got mine for 325 shipped, and aside from some paint missing on the focus ring (from use), it's in perfect condition.

This lens, and the 58mm 1.4 Nokton, are way underpriced, imo. I have this one as well, and I've heard it rivals the Nikkor at nearly 4x the price. I don't know if it does, as I've never owned (or used) the Nikkor. Of course, the Nikkor is AF...

These two lenses, my 105mm 2.5 Nikkor, and a few others are on the "never sell" list.
