Hallo,
some time ago I bought a Voigtlaender Vito CLR from one of those auctions in which the seller does not know what "functioning" means. I got most money back, I only lost the shipping, $8 or so, but I do have a problem camera.

I would like to consider having it repaired. When I was a child, my father had a Voigtlaender Vito C and this is somehow related to why I would like to have my CLR repaired if possible.

The CLR has a light meter (L) and a rangefinder (R). Having the lightmeter working properly is not that important, although that would be nice, but having the rangefinder working properly is.

The viewfinder is quite blurred, and the rangefinder is blatantly out of calibration.

I read on APUG that the blurred viewfinder is often the result of a clumsy attempt to repair the rangefinder, using some glue and closing immediately the case. The glue will emit some "vapours" that will fog the viewfinder.

Knowing that, I still don't know if this glue problem is something that can be remedied. Besides, I suspect that not every camera repairer would be reliable as far as repairing such an old camera is concerned.

So the question is: anybody knows about a camera repairer, able to operate on this kind of cameras, possibly in Italy or anyway in the European Union?

My plan is to talk to him at the phone and listen to what he advices. The idea would be to have rangefinder, diaphragm and shutter revised and lubricated, and in proper working condition.

Unless you tell me that the glue problem is not economically solvable anyway.

Thanks in advance
Fabrizio

Fabrizio, if you don't mind sending it to the U.K. then I can suggest www.newtonellis.co.uk I am a collector of working classic cameras and would not use anyone else for either repair or cla, have been using them for a while and I don't think there is any camera they can't repair, and their prices are very fair,Hope this is of help,Richard

Thanks Richard,
I have contacted Newton Ellis asking for a rough estimate.
I would still prefer finding a repairer in Italy (for reduction of shipping costs) but I would have recourse to NE if I can't find a cheaper alternative.

Quindi se qualcuno conosce un riparatore capace, faccia un fischio
