Does anyone with this camera have tips for loosening up the milled wheel that opens and closes the red windows on the back?

Mine's stuck. From lack of use, presumably. (I just bought it.)

If you were thinking WD40, you were right. And the proper tool in this case turns out to have been the humble butter knife.
