Everything works and battery compartment is fine.
This is one of the cleaner ones I have and a real simple work horse.
I tested it with a volt meter and seems to be in the vicinity of 8v so should be safe for radio triggers and electronic cameras.
Please verify to your own satisfaction before you use on sensitive equipment.
