Vittessa T

Bought a Vittessa T some years back. Flea market buy with a 50mm 2.8 Color Skopar. Nice shape and aside from the plunger film advance, a handy little walk around camera. It is mostly used as my motorcycle camera, but since the motorcycle is going it will become the car camera.

The only thing I'm having trouble with is what size filter does it take. Does anyone here know of a source for filters?

Vittessa T 50mm Color Skopar Ektar 100

The vittessa range including the T has it's own filter mount, so unless you can find some Vitessa baynet mount filters from classic camera stores or flea markets then I suggest you do as I have done for the last 20 years or so that I have been using many old/classic cameras and that is to use Blu tak or similer sticky putty to mount the filters, I have one set of filters,(Yellow and Orange) and use them on all of my cameras, including both a Vitessa folder and 2 vitessa T's, If I had filters to fit every camera I use then I would hundreds of pounds invested in filters, in that position Blu Tak is an essential in the camera bag, The Vitessa T is indeed a fine camera, I have two and prefer to use them to my Leica £c, I have the complete set of lenses( Skoparet 35mm,Dynaret 100mm,and the super dynaret 135mm, plus of course the 50mm color skoper, they are all fine lenses, and the 135 is tiny compared to any other 135 that I have for various cameras, and a joy to use, I also have a Voigtlander turnit 3, which is a marvel, covers 25,50 100 and 135 lenses in a compact viewfinder that you turn and flip to get each size, and each one is lifesize, I have just had a look at my T's and they suggested size is around 40,5, if you can find that size it might fit, but I still suggest the Blu tak works fine and I have never lost a filter yet

I have a Vitessa L with the Ultron. By scouring fleabay and other used sources I've finally acquired several filters for B/W and also the elusive hood, made of Unobtainium. Do check with Tim at Fliterfind.net; he knows his stuff and may be able to help. For example Tim found a Series adapter for my Contessa 35 folder, which has threads on the OUTSIDE of the lens mount.

Some good ideas Richard. Think you are correct on the 40.5 mm thread size. Blu Tak is worth looking into. How do the Skoparet and Dynaret perform wide open? If they are as good as the color skopar I may have to add them to the kit.

Isn't the 40.5 thread common?

I don't have at T but I have a N and a L. The older cameras take a 125/20 hood. It is a push on and about 34/35mm inside diameter. Hard to find but exquisitely made.

The Vitessa T is different.
I actually have a Vitessa T hood. Says right on the box Vitessa T f=50mm 310/41.
It is 40.5mm thread mount and fits my Contax Sonnar perfectly. I like it better than the Zeiss hood. But it is a little narrower and may vignette. In any case, I see no reason why standard 40.5mm filters and hoods would not work on the Vitessa T 50mm Skopar. I don't know about the other lenses.

Did they ever make an Ultron for the T?

I ordered a couple of 40.5mm filters off the bay. A hood may be a good idea as well. Unfortunately they did not make the Ultron for the T.

All three of the lenses for the Vitessa T are great performers, as good wide open as closed, I personally think they are the equal, or even better, than the Leica lenses that I use, but finding the Vitessa T lenses can be a problem, over here they are as rare as hens teeth, it took me 6 or 7 years to find them, but if you can find them then they are well worth getting, you could get the 3 lenses in a jacket pocket, but also, if you can find one, get a turnit 3 viewfinder to go with them, it covers all the lenses, and is probably the best of this type of viewfinder ever made, no bright lines for each lens, just the clear view, and it is almost like having a alr viewfinder for each lens
