I just got my hands on the Vitomatic IIIb, which has the Ultron 50/2. Really looking forward to using this, but, I can't see the double image in the vf to be able to focus. I can just barely make it out when I aim at a light fixture, but anything else it is not visible.
I took the top plate off, and can see all of the rf mechanics moving in sync when I move the focus ring, but for the life of me I see essentially see nothing in the vf. I cleaned all accessible mirror/prism surfaces, and the vf is a pleasure to look through now (it was filthy). I can see the yellow circle in the center, and like I said can just barely make out the second image when aiming at a light, but even outdoors (Florida sun), rendered no help in focusing.
Any ideas what I can do? Isn't there a 'trick' with blocking out the center with marker or electrical tape to help? I don't want to take the rf apart, as I don't think I'd successfully get it back together, and if I did, calibrating would be a chore.
