Hi, I have obtained a nice Ensign 420 with Epsilon shutter and hope to play with 6x9 for a while. I notice that a "modern" cable release is a very poor fit and wondered if they were of a different fit/thread than contemporary versions.
I think they were tapered at one time. I know of at least one person who has continued to use them anyway and reports no adverse effects other than the nuisance factor.
Some of the earlier CR sockets were straight thread, newer ones are tapered. The straight thread seems to be less common, judging from my nest of worms(cr's)
I have an Epsilon shutter on a Selfix 820. I've got a range of cable releases, some much older than the camera and some work with the shutter, and some dont, even though they all work with newer shutters! I cant fathem out why, but I just use one that works. It's a (supposedly) standard fitting - unlike the flash socket on my shutter.

If you ever need a spare working Epsilon shutter let me know. I've got two doing nothing - one with an Ensar lens in it and one without lens that had an Xpres in.
