I've recently relocated to Victoria (CANADA) and would like to meet any APUG members here or in the Cowichan Valley area.

I shoot analog with a variety of 35mm cameras, Bronica 645, Cambo and Shen-Hao 4x5s, and an Ansco 8x10. I also have a D200 Nikon for digital.

I have a very nice Beseler 4x5 enlarger (with condenser, diffusion, and cold-light heads) and no place to put it at present. It is in my bedroom under a dust cover.

Let's get together or chat at the very least!

Hi! I'm in Nanaimo, an hour and a half from Victoria. Justin Sliber is here too. BWKate (Victoria) and I have gotten together a couple of times. PhotoBob is also in Victoria, though I haven't met him yet. My work often makes it hard for me to leave the Nanaimo area, but I get to Victoria periodically. With 5 APUGgers on the Island now, we ought to try to get together.
Welcome to the Island - lots and lots of photo opportunities year round.

I need to get my Dad onto APUG - he may be in his 80s, but he is in Saanichton, and he knows more about film than I'll ever forget.

FWIW, I'll be in Victoria next Wednesday, and in Tofino in the middle of the month.

Matt, you may find some fellow Vancouver Island photographers that post to the Large Format Photography Forum.

Though only a visitor to VI over a thirty year period, it has been one of my favorite places to photograph.

Thanks Merg - I too lived in Victoria for the greater part of three years in the 1980s, while attending school there.

Do you think that will qualify me, or will I have to bring my Omega D6 to the meetings ?

My guess is that the only qualification would be to have a camera.

On one of my many visits to the Island, I believe in 2006, I met Don Wilkes who lives in Victoria. He shoots 4x5 and works in both black & white and color. Perhaps you will have an opportunity to meet him.

Me too (UVic) but for a few years longer!

Hey, I'm in Victoria. Where'd you move from?

Also in Namaimo

Hi Everyone,
I am also located in Namimo and if people are getting together on the island I would love to hear about it. I too don't have much of a chance to get out of the city with work and family commitments, but if I had a good excuse.... I shoot 35mm and Mf and have had a darkroom for several decades. Love to hear from anyone. Regards,
Stephen

Well it's not quite Vancouver Island, but if anyone stops by the Queen Charlotte Islands in the next few months, send me a message first. My house contains the only darkroom within 100km.

Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't been online for a month or so. Had to do my taxes... Seriously though, just started a new job etc.
I've been in touch of the adminstrator of APUG and hope to set us up a Victoria/Mid-Island/Island group online.

One thing I'm very interested in is a coop darkroom set up. I used to have one in Vancouver in the 80's and it was great - five of us paid $135 a month for a 1500 sq. foot studio with darkroom and offices. Worked really well. Or if anyone knows of something like this in the Victoria/Cowichan area, I am down for that >>>
