Box says made in EU, seller page says German. Anyone know or guess what this emulsion is? Maybe Orwo?

KS perforations though do not make us wiser... Furthermore if buying not off the shelf you can get a variety of perforations, at least from Filmotec (Orwo).

We seem to have a plethora of "new" films in the last couple of years that I don't recall threads on even a few more years before. It seems to be almost one a month :D Unless these are genuine new films then where are they coming from?. Is this a stock of previously unwanted stock rolls languishing in warehouses forgotten and unloved until relatively suddenly there was a market for these under new names because users are demanding new products even if they are old products with new names?

It would be nice if we had a sticky that listed all "new" named films and what each actually was

The cassette looks the same as the Berlin film, not too many using this type of cassette.

That's apparently the new "disposable" plastic cassette design -- I've seen photos of them on Chinese repackaged film.

Still am not sure how to open them safely in the dark.

They should respond well to the "pry the light trap open" attack. I've seen this in video on YouTube as a means to open a 35mm cassette without any tools. Of course, if you avoid winding the film leader back inside, or have the knack of using a leader retriever, you can just pull the film out through the light trap felt.

I looked on Aliexpress the other day to see if anyone was selling film (I was curious), and there were a couple of sellers of Shanghai film - and one of the sellers had a package that includes the cartridge-opening key. So, it would seem the cartridges are reusable, if you have the right tool.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming...

Can you post a photo of the cassette opening key, please, as I would be very interested in seeing it.

I remember trying to open the two-piece plastic cassette (when I had my minilab), as Donald said above, on reloaded Chinese disposable cameras and I could never open them and be able to reuse or reseal them. Just break them open.

You could extract the film leader with a film picker and then cut the film end just before the light trap so you could splice a new length of film and rewind into the cassette but you can do that with any film cassette.

That tool is the long time known opener for metal cassettes.

This listing has a picture of the key.

(Not my listing. No conflict of interest.)
Jim that looks like the usual key that looks just like my key for prising open cassette ends but unless there is something very different about it compared to mine, the key you linked to would not seem to allow the cassette to be re-used which was what I thought was being asked

I found that a metal beer bottle top opener that I have in my kitchen drawer worked just as well but neither the key nor bottle top opener were designed to allow any re-assembly

Yeah, now that I look at it that looks like a pretty normal key. Wishful thinking, I suppose!

You are right, it's just like a normal bottle cap opener type key and it won't open the film 2 piece plastic cassette.
The only way I found to open them was to put the handle of the bottle opener through the light trap and twist.

Those plastic cassettes are also used for the "Power Geek" branded film sold by Poundland here in the UK. I've got two and have not managed to open one yet. I had the lab return them after processing. Power Geek is Fuji C200 in disguise, 10 exposures per cassette.

Made in EU technically rules out Harman now as the UK has left the EU in theory....unless it was made last year. Could be Foma though, as the Czech Republic is in the EU and Foma are happy to sell their films for rebranding.
