I've recently hung 15 images in the Doctor's lounge of the local hospital. Have recieved compliments, some from staff I don't work with. I've had the occaisional image in juried shows, but this is the first time I've hung a collection of my prints. Choosing the images and getting them ready was a bit challenging, but it felt good to get them up on the walls. Whew!

Next time..... somewhere more public maybe?

I recently hung a number of prints as well.... and received comments... My wife said, "Please stop, we have no more wall space."

Seriously, it does sound like a great start... next step is a formal showing (with price tags)

Cheers,

Good for you! It takes jam to show your stuff publicly, especially when starting out. Cheers,

Don't sell yourself short! That's great. I've done that too like a nice wall of prints at the bank where my bride works. It's just fun to see a wall of your pictures.

Congratulations. There's something about a public showing that we all need, I think. As much as we say we only do it for ourselves we do need some affirmation of the value of our work.

Again - well done.

Good for you.

Everyone has to start somewhere, it's the experience that matters. Other places to look at are local theatres, they will often show work in the bar or corridors, star wells etc.

Everybody has to start somewhere. It does make you feel good that your art work is hanging up somewhere.

Starting with small potatoes is often the best way to go. Now you've seen them displayed.... been through the process of sequencing them, framing them, etc. etc. The more you do it, the better they will look at each show. Congrats!!

Is that small potatoes? I don't think so.
Interesting idea that WHERE you show your work has some sort of inherent hierarchy? The work is the thing.

And you'll probably get more people seeing it there than anywhere else. Well done

good point, Cate. I've recently had a show of my work through a small photography museum, and they have a lovely building. That said, though, they have started some partnerships with gallery spaces in the area. My work was shown in the lobby of a theater during a run of the play, A Year in the Life of Frog and Toad. It was a good fit, and broadens the audience for photography.

They've also recently opened a gallery in an assisted living facility. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm told it's a beautiful gallery... and they are bringing art to people who may not be able to visit a museum.

So, it's good to find wall space for your work... no matter!!

That's great Lillian!
After seeing some of your lovely work in person I bet it looked awesome. More people should see your beautiful work in person. Congrats!
