My apologies. Earlier I may have misrepresented the shutter release options on the Wollensak Verito 14 1/2" F:4 lens. Below is a picture of the same with a standard cable release and with the piston for an air release. In the former, the piston is simply emoved an a cable is screwed in.
I've got one of those, but not on my Verito. Is that a DeGroff air release made by Ilex? It might also be made by another manufacturer. It was simply a device to convert any standard cable release fitting to an air release fitting. My 14.5" Verito has a built-in air piston, and my 11.5" Verito has a cable release fitting like yours.
I suspect that mine is really an air release in which the tapered cable release just happens to fit by virtue of the taper. There are no internal threads in the body release. Gosh, Idearly hope I have not just made this more confusing. All I can say is that the cable works perfectly well.
