Velvia 50 and warming polarizer.

Hello everyone, May I ask your advice please.

Last autumn I tried a 81a warming filter and hoya hd polarizer combo and noticed this occurrence on several occasions. During a few hours after sunrise, I noticed when polarizing a landscape scene with broken cloud and blue sky, the polarizer rotated to maximum effect would record a indigo sky on reviewing the slides back(clouds had no color cast though). To confuse the issue for me on a separate morning the broken cloud sky was recorded as blue not indigo!

I wondered if the indigo sky was to be expected using the filter combo in this way - or have I noticed a processing issue here? Perhaps a simple beginners mistake on my part- as this was my first time in using a polarizer/warming combo.

You're probably seeing the effects of the warming filter I reckon. Take it off to record the "actual" hues, if there is such a thing, w/ film/slides, vs what your eye sees. But since everyone see colors somewhat differently, you'll have to live w/ some variations. This is the sort of thing that drove some people batty when photographing their art work. You just have to settle for as close as possible. It never bothered me, because the galleries and I both knew that in order to see the "true" colors you need the piece in front of you, and the color in the piece was highly dependent on the lighting used when viewing it.

Velvia is not known for accurate color reproduction anyway, it's known for super saturated colors.

Filter order can change effects. I've had unexpected behaviour with polarisers and different filters.
