The VEF Minox Riga is a true icon of subminiature photography. It is not just a camera; it is a testament to the technology of the 1930s. But as with any old masterpiece, time and use can take their toll.

When a legendary piece of machinery reaches a certain age, the question is not whether to replace it, but how to bring its heart back to life. Until now, however, the inner workings of the Riga have been a mystery. Unlike its post-war models, no detailed description of the inner workings of the VEF Minox Riga has ever been published—let alone an illustrated repair report.

I have just published a groundbreaking, detailed insight into the complete restoration of a VEF Minox Riga from individual parts. This report was written at my asking by the Minox enthusiast who carried out this project. This is not a service log; this article offers unprecedented insight into the inner workings of the camera. It meticulously documents the process in pictures and videos, showcasing the precise and intricate work required to restore its functionality.
