I got a few sheets of St. Armand etching paper, hand-made all-cotton paper from Montreal.
I had high hopes for it, and it coated well and exposed well when used with Van Dyke.
However, upon entering the fixer, the unexposed and highlight areas all gained a warm-grey stain.
I haven't had this happen with any other paper. My first thought is that the sensitiser doesn't rinse out of the paper very well, though I'm not sure what would improve that.
This was double-coated with normal van Dyke chemicals, exposed, developed in 1% citric acid (two baths) and then tap water (1 bath), toned in KRST 1:200, rinsed, and fixed in normal photo fixer diluted 1:10.
Platine and Revere Platinum don't stain like this.
Anyone else seen this with any paper and/or know what it might be?
