Hello. I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this, if not I can delete/edit/move it, just let me know.
I have an older camera that I am trying to sell, but I have zero idea of valuation. Is there a place to ask in the forum here, or can I just put it in the classifieds as an "offers"? I want it to be fairly priced, but my internet searching to find a value has been somewhat frustrating.
Be sure to select the “sold items” choice too. KEH and Roberts camera (“usedphotopro.com”) are also good sources for retail prices on uses cameras. Note that the private sale value for most cameras tends to be a little less than most dealer retail pricing. If you have something unique or obscure, you may need to do additional research, that doesn’t necessarily make it more valuable, but these usual sources may not have many examples of your particular camera to compare to.
I don't think it is that valuable, but I saw some prices from the early 00's that I thought were quite high. And I understand that camera don't always increase in value! Although that would be nice.
Try searching ebay.co.uk: I see quite a few Kershaw cameras listed there, including a Peregrine III with an asking price of 4800 UKP(!) but it appears that other models have actual selling prices closer to 10-20 Pounds.
I've decided to do a CLA on it, and to see if there are any issues. After that I will most likely hang onto it and pass it down to my kids. You could say that we are the original owners, as my grandfather purchased the camera new back in 1948/49. I'll also be putting film back through it if all is well.
