FWIW, this product is now available again (I was on a mail list to be notified). It’s a simple setup for 35mm scanning, you supply your own digital camera and macro lens, see: https://www.valoi.co/easy35

This was originally an Indiegogo project, got fully funded and sold out their first build. Looks like a nice setup, but I have no experience with it…just been following their progress, and may consider it myself. I like the idea of not having a big setup (like the Negative Supply stuff https://www.negative.supply/shop-kits ), and having to worry about perfect alignment.

Sure, I can build my own, but I’d need the space to set it up and leave it set up once everything is aligned properly…..and it wouldn’t be a lot cheaper….plus I already have the DSLR and macro lens to do it with the Easy 35….

Sold in the US via CineStill: https://cinestillfilm.com/collections/scanning-finishing/products/easy35-film-scanning-kit

If anyone has actually used one, I’d love to hear your comments.

Matt Osborne on Flickr was given a ‘loaner’ and his review is on YouTub. I tried unsuccessfully copying the link here, but if you have access to Flickr search for Matt and you’ll find the clip. In summary, he was quite impressed with the Valoi for convenience, but of course it comes down to choice of camera and macro lens for quality of output.

I think this is the YouTube video you're referring to:
