Hi all,

I'm helping the local high school photography teacher. She want to introduce her students to Cyanotypes. I need blue prints or how to build information for a UV printer. The class does not have much money so the less costly the better. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
!

Try this link (Building a UV printer Darkroom Photography AlternativePhotography.com) but you should be aware of the different spectrums of UV tubes (UV-A, UV-B, etc. etc.). you may need to do a bit more research on the applicable tube.

I have made a simple one for printing etching plates (Solarplates) out of an old enlarger base and column and mounted a incandescent 500w. UV globe inside a spun aluminum lamp shade so I would not look directly at the light source. Good luck and cheers for now,
Sam

You should look for bulbs with BL350/BL360/BL368 codes. They are also used in insect lamps so it won't be a problem to find them. Not every actinic UV-A bulbs is suitable btw. Some are made for aquarium use they produce peak output around 400nm, you will need the ones produce peak output around 365nm hence the code BL365/BL368.
