Now that the fine weather is near any body interested in a Utah APUG gathering? Maybe a shoot BBQ or something?

It's a bit too far for me. Especially just for a weekend. Would probably spend it all in T5 Heathrow:smile:

I would love to come, but school does not end until near Memorial Day. Nevertheless, suggest a date and a place. By the way I am down south in Arizona.

Where in AZ?

Maybe, depends on the time and place.

I would think the number of attendees would be small in our isolated neck of the woods!

Fred

The last time we had five. I know there is more than that though, this time I'm gonna promote it outside of APUG.

I'd like to figure out a location where we can socialize, show and tell, and do a bit of photography.

maybe a trip up one of the canyons not snow packed is in order. If you give me some lead room I'll try and make the pilgrimage down to "zion"

I live in Mesa, AZ..the winter home for many Utah residents. I don't do large format yet, but I would enjoy looking on.

That's a bit of a haul, but you would certainly be welcome. And all luddites would be welcome, not just the LF freaks.......

I'm in.

From Salt Lake City:

3 hours to Moab
3.5 hours to Zion
6 hours to The North Rim
30 Minutes to my back yard. :D

Sounds great! I'd love to meet everyone! (I don't shoot LF, either, didn't realize that was a requirement to be a Utah apugger!)

No requirements, but to bring yourself. Seems we have a few that are considering coming in from out o town. Should we make a Moab weekend out of it?

I'd like to attend as well. I'm between slc and ogden. Moab sounds like a lot of fun as long I can get a kitchen pass from my wife

I can't do a Moab thing on weekends as I work weekends. Wish I could!

Unless you go in June, then I'm free on weekends.

Hmmm.... Moab in June. We'll need those airplane firefighter suits, the silver ones.

Ok, how about July, then?

I know, it's the perfect time of year to go down there. I just passed up a trip this week because I have too much to do. I'm stuck in a weird transitional phase between wanting to ski and wanting to garden. I don't know if I'm coming or going!

Bad timing. I was just in Moab for ten days for the EJS!

Evilhomer? Do I know you from class at the art center?
P.S. What's a kitchen pass?

What's it like in September, still too hot or by chance?

There was a teacher at Art Center, Vartikian I believe, sp, who kept saying "Chiaroscuro". She was very polished and fun to be in class with.

My next door neighbor just got back this morning from AZ and spent 7 hours at the SLC airport while they cleaned off a fuel spill from a runway. I spent 8 hours there in a snow storm several years back.

You do know me from class at the arts center. I couldn't take a class this semester because of work, but I'm looking forward to taking a class this summer.

Kitchen pass is as slang term we use around my office for permission from your wife. We use it mostly as a joke when we want to get together outside of work.

Cool! Yeah, you should come back. I'm the only person doing film and I feel all alone. Dan is taking the class again, but he hasn't been around as much this term, or perhaps he's just not there when I am, and is there when I'm gone, so I haven't seen him to pick his brain. He may do his darkroom class again this summer, last I heard he was still on the fence. Hope to see you!

I took his darkroom class last year and it was great. He is very talented and he is very good at teaching techniques. I may have to take it again because I've been to busy to do any real work lately and I'm feeling pretty rusty in the darkroom.

I would encourage anyone doing darkroom work to take his class. For those interested here is a link to the slc art center Yardkat is talking about: http://www.slacphoto.net/

If you folks want to come up to Park City, I will be teaching at the Kimball Arts Center again. I should have a calendar posted as soon as we get things finalized. I have darkroom processes, using the camera (More for those starting out, but could take anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of doing it right in camera.) And I may have a toning class as well.
