Using PC-TEA to Push?

Has anybody used PC-TEA to try pushing, say, Tri-X to EI 800 or 1600.

I use DD-X for this purpose at the moment, but am unhappy in continuing to use it because:

a) It's a "magic formula"
b) It's long-term availability is in some doubt
c) I don't use it for anything else and it probably doesn't have a useful shelf-life of more than a few months once opened

I'm not sure how to assess PC-TEA for pushing. On the one hand it gives good speed, but it isn't a solvent-type developer or a buffered developer in the manner of XTOL or DD-X.

Any field experience using it to push "traditional" (non-tabular) grain films?

Actually, let me make one correction to the above - PC-TEA is, I believe, a pretty good buffer for a PH of around 9.

Still, it's a different buffering system than other state-of-the-art developers.

I push with PC-TEA all the time and it always exceeds my expectations.
