Using New flash via PC-sync?

Greetings,

I'm just curious how to go about using my newer flash (yn568exII + triggers) with an older film camera?

In this case I have tried both the kiev 6c and minolta srt-200 on their native flash sync speeds but not getting anything out of the flash?

Nothing is being triggered. Any ideas why?

PC cord should trigger it...have you tried shorting the center pin to outer ring at the camera-end of the cord, to verify the cable is OK?

After a bit of googling... seems I picked one of the few triggers that can't... the yn-622 is output only

Yes, your YN622 transceiver PC port is meant to connect to FLASH (not to the camera) so it triggers a manual flash (non ETTL). However, if you use Magic Mending tape to insulate all but the 'center' pin (the one which is not 'paired' in a 2-pin row) the center pin should properly trigger your YN568 flash when mounted in the SRT-200 hotshoe.

I use one of those with either a flash directly or a YN remote trigger in it connected to a large format leaf shutter.

I bought one of the Yongyou radio slaves a while back. It worked reasonable well for $25 or so, but it wouldn't trigger from these:

Minolta Spotmeter F;
Sekonic L308b;
Any of my RB lenses - 65, 90, 127, 180, and 250

Those all work fine with my big-old Quantum Radio Slaves and my Pocketwizard.

It did work on some really old SLRs and my 4x5 Copal shutter lens, and my modern DSLRs. (I see your issue is that's not really a synch port, but may be something to keep in mind with the Yongyou stuff).

All cameras close their synchro switch at all shutter speeds, thus one does not necessarily need to set a certain speed.

(By the way, none of my flashes is younger than 30 years.)

These triggers have a limitation in that they will not sync or detect signals faster than 1/250th, if you are trying to trigger from a leaf shutter at 1/400th or 1/500th it wont trigger.

The meters might give a trigger thats shorter then 1/250th and double check the syncspeed you are using on the RB lenses.

Nope, won't trigger at all. My RB 90mm will give a weak trigger at speeds below 1/60th every three or four tries. The other glass, nothin'.

I assume it's something about the more primitive circuits, maybe more resistance or something. Don't know, finally just broke down and got the pocket wizard I should have bought years ago.

Guys, the Yungnuo trigger's PC port is to connect TO THE FLASH to trigger the flash. The Yungnuo PC port is NOT to be connected to the camera/lens so the Yungnuo is TRIGGERED BY anything except its hotfoot!
