Am I right in saying this is frowned upon here?

I am yet to do this....but what do people do when they dont have access to traditional darkrooms? Im about to get a v500 epson scanner....which Ive heard is great value for money.... does using photoshop to tweak colours and brightness and all of that jiggery defeat the purpose of using film?

Photoshop isn't frowned upon, but it's considered off topic for APUG. There are many people using a combination of film and digital techniques in all kinds of creative ways over on APUG's sister site http://www.hybridphoto.com and we encourage people to see what's going on on the hybrid site.
