After spending 30 minutes watching several videos with titles like, "
How to Create a Photo Website in 5 Minutes with Adobe Portfolio," I finally figured out why the instructions were not working for me. Apparently, before the online Portfolio website builder can access your photos, you must first sync those photos from Lightroom (or any other Adobe photo software) to Adobe Cloud. I have never completely setup Lightroom to sync my photos to the cloud, so they are not available to Portfolio.
Like many things Adobe, I could probably dig through enough Adobe tutorials to figure out how to sync the photos and build build a portofolio, but I am not sufficiently motivated to do that right now.
SmugMug has an excellent plug-in for Lightroom that makes it convenient for me to create, upload, and edit SmugMug albums directly from within Lighroom. That process seems much easier to me than trying to learn what I would need to know to do about the same thing with Adobe Portfolio. But if I was not already familiar with SmugMug - starting from scratch - then the two processes would probably be similar in difficulty.
SmugMug has never tried to sell me anything - maybe because I only have a "Power" account which is not a commercial account?
