Used Photo Pro - ratings/feedback?

Dear Chassis,

I have purchased from them on 4 occasions in 2016, without any problems.

a) They post an actual photo of what you are buying....Pricing on film items is good.
b) Their grading system is not as conservative/refined as KEH
c) I would only purchase something in Excellent or Very Good Condition
d) Many of their lenses, they list as having list dust, internal specs and mild fungus (Caveat Emptor)
e) Unlike KEH they pick up the shipping (ground) if the order is over $100
f) Unlike KEH, they DO NOT charge sales tax in Texas, California etc....Upon further research, you must have a retail store (physical location)
to charge sales tax....There is no such KEH branch in Cali or Texas, and no a buyer at a folding table and banner at a camera show doe not constitute
a brick and mortar taxable location.... My only complaint against KEH is the shipping is no longer free and the sales tax adds an additional "cash grab" IMHO.

Only negative's have been....

A) Packaging, items are wrapped but just adequate for UPS handling.
B) Sales person was probably just doing his job, but on phone tried to sell me extended warrantie(s)

I have purchased three items from them so far. In all three cases the transactions have been fine; I continue to watch their listings and would buy again if something of interest turns up at a fair price.

Many of the items they offer are well worn cosmetically - pay close attention to the item pictures.

If you found their listings on eBay, note that they generally have the same items listed on their UsedPhotoPro website at lower prices. As with KEH, if you get on their email list you will periodically receive short-notice discount offers ("15% off all film camera gear today only!").
 
They sell on eBay as robertscamera. I recently bought a slightly exotic light meter from them (Horseman Optical Exposure Computer) advertised as tested and working properly. I even asked them if it took the batteries named in its name plate. Yes, tested, works perfectly. It came promptly, was well packed. Unfortunately DOA. I have replacement batteries, know how to test. They paid for return shipping, refunded all I'd paid without question or objection.

They've since offered another of the same on eBay. The listing's text says very clearly untested, may not work. They haven't re-offered the one I bought.

I'd buy from them again.
 
I have three good experiences with them, including one where the item was lost by USPS and UPP refunded my money.

I bought a Novatron 240 from them, it crapped out a week later. There was absolutely no problem with return and refund, they paid return shipping, and were polite and considerate throughout.

Since then I have bought an assortment of used Nikon lenses, some filters, a Novatron head, all without any problems.
 
I've bought several things over the years & only had good experiences with them.
I only knew them as Robert's Camera, I learned something today(Photo Pro)
 
I've bought from them and the transaction went fine.

But you have to read the descriptions closely. I've seen listing where the item is given an overall rating like "very good", but they describe issues with glass or function.
 
i bought a lens from them... it was as described, a little on the high price side but a good deal.

the only issue was shipping - they provided tracking and the lens took 8 days to arrive, including 4 days traveling around indiana and environs before finally traveling any distance to florida! patience!

i would deal with them again.
 
I've bought from them via ebay, and the transaction was fine, the item was as described and I was happy with the price and service.
 
Used Photo Pro is part of Roberts, a very old Indianapolis camera store. I live in Fort Wayne, a 90 minute drive northeast of Indianapolis and have driven down to Roberts many, many times over the last 25 yrs to buy stuff. They're good people to buy from, and as others have said, if there's a problem, they accept return with no hassle. They just opened a big new store in Indianapolis. It hasn't got the charm of the old store, which was in a ratty old building downtown, but its bigger and more modern.
 
I've bought several things from them over the years, mostly good experiences. A couple of negatives though, a Minolta Maxxum 7 and Mamiya 6 that were both dead on arrival despite being listed as tested and functional. They were great about taking care of the Minolta but didn't bother to even respond to the Mamiya 6 issue. I had to start an eBay claim to get my money back. That experience soured me on them, but they do have good prices if you're willing to deal with the potential hassle of a return.
 
I've used them a lot over the past 3 or so years... Don't hesitate to offer the price they're asking on their website when you're checking out their eBay listings. They will accept it 99% of the time. Also, they will ship via USPS Priority Mail, if you request it. Avoids the UPS ground wait-time and possibility of damage to the gear. Sometimes is cheaper for them, other times, it's about the same, since UPS seems to be fairly expensive.

Also, it's best to contact them through their website. They don't respond to their eBay messages, except with the usual canned response. Yet, if you email them via the website, you do get a personal response. Did that when I noticed an error on one of their eBay listings and when I did a top cover swap on my FTn, which voided the 6 month warranty. On the latter, notified them that the camera's serial number had changed and to treat the sale as an as is sale. I probably will do the same with the FT2, since that camera will be going to Northwest Camera Repair once the F has been worked on. Since it's more convenient for me to deal with a local repair shop than to mail equipment back to either them or KEH for servicing, their warranties usually don't apply to me. I don't wind up taking advantage of the extended period. If I lived in Indiana or Georgia, then, yeah, I would.

I have purchased numerous times from them - their website often has the same items as their big auction site store, but at a reduced cost. You can also input a savings coupon (typically 5%) for their online store (a postcard comes with every purchase I have made with a 5% off coupon). Their ratings are not as conservative as KEH.com, but they stand behind their products and honour their return policy.
 
I've found better deals and items in better condition on Ebay. But you have to know what your looking at, serial numbers, specs., history if possible, etc.

I have bought a few items from them with only one problem, and the return was hassle free. I do wish they would be more detailed with their descriptions, especially condition of glass in lenses. My one return was due to fungus on a lens, they rated it as in very good condition.
 
I have bought many items from them and have never had any issues. Good packing and fast shipping and descriptions accurate.
 
I bought a lens from them and was very satisfied with the transaction.
 
I've bought a couple hard to find items and some odds and ends all for really fair prices both on their UsedPhotoPro site and through eBay.
 
I have purchased from them. I looked at what I wanted online (their website) and purchase in store. They were helpful, answered my questions and all in all: a great experience.
 
I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. I purchased a Leica R-E recently for nothing with a warranty. Amazing they sold it so low and included their usual 6 month warranty. A Sony lens arrived today from them. Good folks to deal with.
 
Have been using them for years and my only bad piece from them was a Canon P. It had focus issues, they paid for the return and a quick refund.

I've purchased a few items from Used Photo Pro, everything was as expected. I appreciate that the photos are the actual gear for sale.

Does anyone have experience selling gear to Used Photo Pro? Do they give fair prices?
