Used medium format gear in Europa?

Hi all!

Im currently buying myself a rb67 pro s. I live in Denmark, europa, and most likely ill be buying from KEH.com in US. Does anybody know of any good alternatives in europa? Im concerned about the taxes and shipping etc.

I would look at leicashop.com
The used gear they sell is usually in extremely good condition.
I can see that they have a used mamiya rb67 for sale with waistlevel finder, 127mm lens and a back for 390 euros.

Ffordes in Scotland has a wide selection of used equipment and are pretty reliable. The one time I had a problem with something I bought from there they sorted it out.

Add 25% to the price of the items if buying in the US (moms)
If you buy in the EU that should not be an issue.
There are some alternatives in Germany. Maybe Tom A knows, he bought used lenses and backs for his Bronica there.

Hi everyone,

My experience is that in the US Mamiya gear is cheaper because there is more on the market. Here in NL the market for RZ gear is very small so prices are high. I've bought my RZ body and wlf at KEH and next week there will arrive a 50mm from Greece. I always search google and local online shops but always end up at or KEH or Ebay worldwide.

Ffordes have a lot of stock, but their prices tend to be on the high side.

mxv.co.uk tend to have more reasonable prices, and a good selection.

Mr Cad (www.mrcad.co.uk) has plenty of stock, but their grading is so wildly optimistic that I avoid them if I can.

Robert White are excellent to deal with in every way, but they don't carry a large used stock.

In Sweden, YFO and ProCenter have quite a lot of RB stuff, but the prices are just plain daft. But if you need something in a hurry, and they have what you want, they're good to deal with.

It's worth keeping an eye on the Swedish small ads site blocket.se. That's the only place I have seen real bargains for mainstream kit in recent years. There's a steady trickle of RB equipment mixed in with all the digicams and memory cards, some of it at very good prices.

There is also tradera.com, an eBay-owned, Sweden-only auction site. The LF stuff goes for stupid money, but MF is better.

But, and it's a big but, with the current low dollar it's very, very hard to beat KEH. Admittedly one return will wipe out most of your savings, but they grade very conservatively, and even with the tax and the shipping (and the tax on the shipping you come out ahead.

i always buy from ebay.com and ask the seller to write me a lower value, works in 75% of the times

if you are interested in leicashop.com stuff, i can go check it out for you as well and take pictures if you want. i live in vienna and love to play around with new mf stuff

i bought a rolleiflex 2.8F at the leicashop for a very very reasonable price and the shutter was stuck at times higher than 1/30, i took it back and they fixed it in half a day without charging anything. very nice.

Hi Kim! Actually I bought quite a lot from KEH. Even including shipping and moms, it still came cheaper than most of the other options. And I was sure that I got what I asked for, their QC is really very good IMHO. There is a big store that sells used equipment, and they are on Ebay (shphoto), too, but their prices can be outright unreasonable when you don't face them in person and haggle a little. That said, I got my basic Hasselblad kit off Ebay, and it went so nice and smooth... guess you can really get lucky there.

Mads, that wasn't nice. I had a look at that store, and it's like visiting a pet shelter. Lots of Bergheils and stuff, and they're all looking at me with their lenses... so sad... they want a good home...

regarding Mr Cad; they have a large shop in south London where you can get your hands on the stuff. Why contact them to see what they have in stock and then pop over here on the train for a few days?

I am buying at leicashop, I just got Minolta spotmeter F from them, and previously bought my Voightlaender Bessa kit. What is nice is that they have all their secondhand equpment checked, CLA and repaired if needed, and selled with warranty. If something is not possibile to repair it is clearly stated what is wrong, so you are allways in full and honest knowledge of what are you buying. They are probably more expencive thanbuying from USA in some cases, but for me they are first choice.

If I am not wrong, they even polish and recoate lenses...

But, if you find something REALLLYYYYY expencive, don't be surprised. They are also tightly connected with Weslicht auction house, so they sell also rear and antique photography stuff, so don't be surprised to find camera worth 20.000 EUROS

A very interesting and successful tactic most of the time based on your experience. I may have misunderstood you but I assume that you win an auction or is it only Buy it Now(BIN) items and then ask for a lower price?

Isn't there a real danger of getting reported to e-bay for this? Even if it is a BIN item I am amazed that 75% of sellers agree to lower the BIN price. Presumably to avoid an e-bay problem you pay the full BIN or auction price if the seller won't agree to lower price but it is interesting that none have taken it so badly when you suggest they might accept a lower price that at least one hasn't reported your suggestion.

I can certainly think of some APUGers who are regular e-bayers whom I suspect would be most upset if you were to try to lower the price after agreeing to buy at the BIN price or worse still winning the auction then try to reduce price.
