Hello,
Most of the camera shops are on the boulevard Beaumarchais (between metro stations "Filles du Calvaire" and "Bastille"). There is a shop called "Le Moyen Format" dedicated to ... MF obviously.

Dead Link Removed
Open 9:30 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 19:00 except sundays and mondays.

Hi Matus,

If ever your stay is during until the June 5th-6th weekend, there is one of the most famous photographic fair of France, at Bievres, in the west suburb of Paris (can be reached by train), the whole center of this big village is reserved for cameras and related sellers !

Shops on boulevard Beaumarchais seem to be fewer and fewer each years, to my grief.

Some other good addresses, I hope they are still open :

* Photo Odeon, was on boulevard St-Germain until 2006 but now only 73 bd Beaumarchais

* Mac Mahon Photo : 31, Mac Mahon avenue (Underground station "Etoile")
site here...

* Photo Muller : 17, rue des Plantes 75014 (Underground : "Alesia" or "Pernety") : a smaller shop than the previous, a little on the "esoteric" side, some East European rarities, driven by a helpful gentleman. As I cannot found any working website, I don't know if ever is he now retired. [EDIT] : I don't know when the google "streetview" of rue des Plantes was last updated, but Photo Muller seems to be still open !!!

If you decipher French, here is a list of sellers on Paris, funny but a little outdated (2008), I' afraid : http://www.dmin-dmax.fr/photo8.htm

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Raphael

Just don't try to go there in the weekends as everything will be shut, I recently walked the Boulevard Beaumarchais, the area that has a good concentration of camera stores was closer to the Bastille end of the road, from the research I had done previous it seems Paris isn't the place to find a good deal on camera equipment though, or anything for that matter...

In Beaumarchais they are open saturday but closed on monday. Le Moyen Format and his brother next door Large Format are the last decent shops. Next to it "La Maison du Leica" is now bling bling like and has very few used equipment. On the other side of the boulevard you might get lucky at Odeon photo but it's really weak in term of choice. And there is another little shop where prices are just crazy, to avoid...
Bievres...
That was something ! Lamp torch at 5am to be at the time stands used to be mounted and to grab stuff asap.
You need to go early and saturday, not sunday too late.
But it's now quite expensive anyway.

Prices should be less expensive than Germany btw.
