still; I limit myself and my camera to ISO400.I do see noise with my camera at ISO 800 but it's not all that bad until it gets past 6400.

I limit my film to 160. I don't use any film faster than 160 but with digital I would go for 12800 if needed.still; I limit myself and my camera to ISO400.
Don't you see the more expensive camera has the base ISO lower? So cameras begin with high ISO don't demand high prices.I would occasionally buy a few rolls of 3200 film. They usually lingered around unused for years. On a rare occasion something may occur that requires a 3200 iso exposure, but then a little noise would be insignificant.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Zeiss produces a camera for research purposes that begins at 3200 or 6400...and most likely begins at the$100,000 price.
It's like the spinach myth. Once it's out there, it will live forever. Just this weekend I took my DSLR to the zoo to practice with long teles. ISO 1200: absolutely no problem and I got several gorgeous A4 prints. Why do all the talking heads online, and so many "professional photographers" with you tube channels all tell me that I should NEVER shoot my DSLR with an ISO beyond 800?

Adrian marks himself as someone who should be listened to. He knows to capitalize "Internet." That's good enough for me.because it introduces more noise than they think should be acceptable. Whether or not it’s more noise than you find acceptable can only be decided by you, not by somebody else on the Internet.
