I saw an old movie projector screen at a thrift store... it has a stand and everything. I was thinking it would make a great reflector for a photo studio.

anyone ever tried this?

I've never tried it, but it's a fantastic idea; especially if it's white.

Sounds like it would work, if it has silver in it it will be very bright.

Cheers,
Bill

They usually work quite well. There are different types of screen, with different directional properties - 'beaded' screens, for example, behave a little like cat's eyes - they have some degree of retroreflectivity, the idea being to give a bright image over a small angle of view.

Best,
Helen

If it is big and white it will also make a great background for either a high-key shot or just one where you're looking for a really clean white. Easy to light and self supporting as well. Bargain!

More people than you can imagine, have been there, and done that. There really isn't much that has not been done or tried in the business of making photographs!

I have a 50"x 50" White projector screen, I have used as a reflector many times, it works fine.
