Point taken. But, going back the OP's question, no paper "texture" is going to create resolution that was absent on glossy paper. So, I take it that the OP meant sharpness and responded accordingly.
This is so silly that I really cannot comment except to say that there is an optimal viewing distance for every size print. Read the following article.
Why it is silly? I like to inspect prints close on exhibition, same as I do with paintings in museums (I cloud see how painter worked to get the image).
If OP wants to get even closer than 2 inches then scanning the print and looking at it on the screen is good option.
