Unusual stuff - what's out there?

just for the fun of it...

I have a weakness for strange cameras and accessories that goes with photography.

And I'd love to see what you have in your possesion..

Old stuff - new stuff - wacky stuff - gizmo's that noone knows what's for (or one can ask here..)

upload some images - or make a link ..

I'll go first:

I just got this 100+ year old "fingerprint camera"....
I think I can make it work.

nega about 10x15cm, but with three exposures on each film ("instant tripty's?)

looks nice but strange...

I have an Agimatic rangefinder. I run film through it very occasionally. My father bought it used in the 60's. It still has the Royal Warrant on it from the seller. I will see if I can upload a photo later.

i don't have it anymore, but i had a variable shutter speed
falling plate camera. it took 9x12 plates ...
you loaded them all standing up in the back, with a spring putting
pressure on them ... clicked the shutter and then wiggled a knob to allow
the plate to fall to the bottom of the camera.
the shutter was a simple guillotine that flopped back and forth
with shutter speed knob that changed the tension on the blade.
i used to buy them and take the cobwebs out of the shutters, do a cla
and resell them. from time to time i would use them.

i still have a 4x5 version of the same camera called a "cyclone sr" ...
looks like this

haven't had a chance to restore it but will be lots of fun!

I had one of those once also!

Actually, a danish inventer once made a camera for (I think) 24 18x24 glass plates in one go!!
Like a Large format camera with a motor!...

He made a lot of camera under the name NORKA, and many of those were exported to the States in the thirties..

However; noone seems to know about them.

A shame. they were beautiful - and practical even though nor small......

its amazing what people invent.

i have always wanted a mandelette post card camera

they come up on FEEbay from time to time
but are missing the tank or something else ...

Stirn Vest Camera

Here's a picture of my Stirn Vest camera. The lens is designed to go through a man's vest button hole. The cool thing about this camera is that it uses a circular glass negative creating several round images on each glass plate.

ooh - I was offered one of those many years ago. But I had limited funds, so I bought a huge mahogany camera on a studio stand in stead (same price)....

beauties

well - this might not be too unusual, but they are very beautiful...

I have three old darkroom lights for petrol. "Ruby glass" it is called, and lighting them gives you a real porn light...

the two in one picture are about 25cm high - the single one about 30cm (the bird just came and sat on it...)

I got this lamp last year in Prague. I have seen several in stores, but they never wanted to sell it - it was a part of their collection of old stuff...

But this one I found in a antique store. The woman in the store had no clue on what it was - she said it was a strange light - not good to use for reading!!!

so I got it cheap!
