Universal Press instant film overkill???

I currently use Fuji Instant films (Polaroid holder) in my Mamiya Universal Press and recently purchased the 65mm f6.3 & 100mm f2.8 lenses. It will be interesting to see if there is any easily noticable difference in quality in the pictures taken with instant film. I suppose it only makes sense to get a film back to truly capitalize on the quality of these lenses..... Anyone have experience using high quality glass with instant film?????

According to my manual for the Mamiya - neither the 65mm or the 100mm will cover the full film plane of the instant film. You need the 127mm and the 150mm to cover the full frame of the instant film back.


That being said, I use high quality glass regularly with instant film in my Super Speed - of course it makes a difference, why wouldn't it?

I think the 75mm will cover Polariod as will the 127mm. I don't know about the 150mm. I've used the 127mm and the prints do well. Recently I've used the Fuji instant versions of the Polaroid. The instant color pack film yields excellent results, as well as the black and white film that has an ISO of 3000.

I thought they would both cover the 3 1/4 X 4 1/4 pack film. I asked some folks on another forum and was assured they provided adequate cover.... As far as the lenses making a difference, I wasn't sure if there was a limit to the amount of detail instant films could capture. I am still learning, and appreciate the experience and advice that is shared here..... Thanks JR......

Polaroid peel apart colour films had a resolution of 10 LP/mm (out of my memory, but least in that region).

Anyway, with the instant print you'll have the end product, with film the intermediate (with exception of a transparency on a light table). So your comparison is invalid.
