Take a look at this picture from the ad - doesn't this look like it's a universal lens holder attached to a (perhaps broken) packard shutter?

Yes, that is a Packard shutter the mount is attached to, but to say it is broken is not possible. The electrical wires and microswitch is a home-made flash sync which is triggered with the piston rises to open the shutter blades. Doesn't look broken to me.

Personally, I mount my Universal Iris Lens mount on the outside of a lensboard, and put the Packard shutter on the inside of the lensboard.

Yes, but if you read the ad, the seller claims the shutter doesn't work. He also doesn't seem to be aware that he's selling more than a shutter.

I always hate it when people drive up the prices of items on eBay by posting pointers for people who are too lazy or stupid to use eBay for themselves. Argh!!!!

Me too, unless of course it is something that I really want and I have been too lazy or stupid to find by myself.

Let's hope anouncing this is not a way to help increase the price of this nice find? It is better to show the fruits of your labor after the close of the auction and then tell us about the great deal you got! Now this piece of metal will go for $300.00!

COOL! THANKS!!! I never would have found this. You guys are toast. I'm going to bid this bad boy to the MOON! Just what I was looking for, sort of. I can put it with the other 15 9X9" lens boards after I win it. Can't wait.

Okay, I get it now that I saw the other thread.

Sorry, Curt. I did not mean to cause such grief. And after reading Jim's post on the other thread, I think he is just kidding here.

I think I will go back to lurking for a while.

No good deed goes unpunished around here Frank. Yes, I was being facetious. Life is too short to get mad over ebay sales. And your thoughts are too valuable to not be posted. I hope you never refrain.

I have an EBay rating of 250 plus. Of all them auctions, I can think of only one that was never repeatable. That was for a coffee maker that was designed for use on trains in the very early part of the last century. It went for something like 170 bucks, much too rich for my blood, but in retrospect, I should have gone for it. I have never seen another like it in 7 years on EBay.

All things come around. Those 200 dollar RB67's with all the accessories? Yep, eventually I got one.
