unidentified Jobo thingy

That tank is stated to be model 16/160 D.

What is that thingy for that looks like being from pressed metal sheet/foil?

By the way, is there a site with information on early Jobo tanks (before model 1000)?

Sorry, but I could not access a larger image. Who knows that thingy will recognize it anyway.
The right end is flat and the left end seems spherical as in large spoon, but with a cut-out.

I know some people shaped like that but they have nothing to do with a Jobo. Sorry.

Jobo published a very nice set of catalogs back in the '80s and perhaps earlier. I have several sets.

Here's a wild guess. Any chance it is intended to hold a sheet of film/paper against the inside wall of the tank with 5he center column in place.?

I suspect the metal piece is to keep the film from unrolling off the reels or something similar. It would bend at both ends to go around the top and bottom core ends, and the middle section would lay along the side of the reels?

It's not a surprise there's not early JOBO info, there weren't a lot made and it was almost a half century ago before the internet.

The spoon part indeed seems to go over the collumn. But if that thingy was a clamp to hold film, the film would be pressed at boths sides.
Even the very old Jobo tanks were designed to place the film with even both sides open.

A device for lowering the reels+core in to the tank when it is full, for a speedy and even start to processing? But that would mean that it is bendable rather than rigid, and it would have to stay in the tank during processing.

As said, I got the impression that thingy is likely from foil and thus bendable.

The tank seems to be non-inversive and reels to be agitated by twisting a knob at the cap.
