I have a number of DW FB prints from an old show that were ferrotyped to a high gloss for the show. Soaked in Pakosol and basically cooked until they released on a chromed dryer drum...sorry ;-) ... Does anyone have experience in resoaking the prints to remove the high gloss, yielding the traditional glossy paper un-ferrotyped look??? All Agfa Portriga Rapid 11 x 14"...
Thanks for your help! Tom
I have tried to undo some ferrotyping which went bad (userware problem ...) Soaking and drying conventionally will have some effect, but not remove eg. marks from uneven prior drying. Probably you an achieve a less high gloss, but a very strong drying and the treatment in Pakosol might also be permanent or leave undesired marks ...
Thanks for your replies and suggestions! I ordered some sodium sulfite and in the meantime decided to try a simple soaking... I let a test print soak for 30 min or so in warm water (hopefully to facilitate softening and swelling of the emulsion). Air dried it and from what I can tell, that did the trick! I've got a few more soaking now and with any luck that will be an easy solution! Thanks again, Tom
