Nothing at all against tripods! In fact, I keep a light duty and a medium duty in my trunk. Heavy duty video 'pod, no. AND, the "everyone is amazed when I use it," monopod!
It's mostly a matter of convenience, shooting on the fly, not having to do the tripod thing although the monopod is all but there.
And, TMY-2 has sharpness, up to 200 lpmm, IIRC that few standard films can touch. Obviously, time for a tripod to attain that.
