It's mostly a matter of convenience, shooting on the fly, not having to do the tripod thing although the monopod is all but there.

And, TMY-2 has sharpness, up to 200 lpmm, IIRC that few standard films can touch. Obviously, time for a tripod to attain that.

With regard to high speed film.....I generally like "available light photography" and I have been known to photograph racing cars too.

But the beauty of film is that there are so many different types available with different looks, speeds and characteristics.
