Had a roll of 120 Kodak Tmax 100 from my Rolleiflex exposed at ISO 100. Only developer available was Diafine. Too lazy to mix up something else I decided to give the Diafine a try. Figured the negs would be dense but they weren't of anything earth shattering. So after a long, long drive and late at night I developed the film. I had been developing single rolls of 35mm film in Diafine so I quickly poured 8 oz of developer A into the tank. Poured the A soup out, poured the B soup in. Finally dawned on me that I should be using16 oz. 40 years of developing film and it's still easy to make stupid mistakes. Felt like sleepy Joe.

Bottom line though they came out great.

I simply took it to mean that "sleepy Joe" in the context of the OP's quote "So after a long, long drive and late at night I developed the film" was either a phrase coined by the OP to refer to someone who was not quite thinking straight due to being tired due it being late and a long drive. Joe is a common U.S. word to describe a person as in "an ordinary Joe", isn't it ?

Yes it may well be. It was just that in the context of the circumstances that the OP described as the kind he found himself in, the phrase "sleepy Joe" did seem to describe anyone who had driven too long., was processing late at night and was too tired to think straight but wasn't designed to inject the dreaded "politics" into the thread by referring to anyone in particular

Wow, didn't think a small joke would lead to so much discussion. Thought I might get replies on my "two wrongs". And yes it was a reference to the President of the United States. It's been pretty much confirmed (Even by Joe) that he needs to get up early and go to bed early. I'm almost 73 the reference was mentioned to mean I shouldn't be doing anything too important after dinner. Really didn't mean to start a political discussion. OK, thanks for clarifying @beemermark! Best be cautious with comments like these and if possible, use an alternative that doesn't carry a political connotation. Let's get back to your original question/observation, now, shall we? No harm done as far as I'm concerned.

On that note, your experience reminded me of a sheet of TMX I once overexposed by about 6 stops - but I developed it normally. It yielded a printable negative; somewhat flat and with 'excellent' shadow detail, of course. But surprisingly usable!

Based upon personal experience, this is where a true inversion agitation method helps. I goofed my quantity a few months back with some 4x5 frames and I managed to salvage them. ( I'm not entirely sure they were worth salvaging, but that's beside the point)
I think any version of semi-stand or true stand development in this case would have been a 2/3rds frame situation fort me.
