I will have work in two separate shows in Mexico City at the end of June. Two prints will be in a show at Eucalipto20, an independent art center located at Eucalipto 20, in the Santa Maria Ribera neighborhood of Mexico City. The show is multidisciplinary and features work dealing with questions of gender, identity, sexuality and politics. The show opens June 22nd. I will not be at the opening, but I will be participating in an artists roundtable on the 25th of June from 5-7pm. The second show is at the Museo Archivo de la Fotografia (MAF) in the Centro Historico, immediately behind the Catedral Metropolitana, next door to the Templo Mayor ruins. This show opens on June 26, and I will be attending the opening reception from 5-7pm. I will have six images in "Geografia del Cuerpo" (Geography of the Body) at MAF, which also features work dealing with questions of gender, identity, sexuality, corporality, and politics. This is my second time exhibiting at MAF, and I was specifically invited to participate by the head curator.

Follow-up news:
Both shows are a raging success. The show at Eucalipto 20 has had good traffic and lots of attention. The artists' talk was small, but everyone who attended was very interested in the work and asked lots of good questions.

The show at the Museo Archivo de la Fotografia has been the highlight of my artistic career - I was actually one of only three of the 14 artists who was asked to speak at the opening (I kept it very brief), I was recognized by several folks who came to the opening who are someones in the photography world in Mexico, I was actually named FIRST on the list of artists in the show, and two days after the opening I had a portfolio review with the museum director which led to the offer of a solo show next year.

I'm getting a solo show in a museum!!!!!

Oh, and the curator of the show offered to buy one of my pieces when the show closes.

Oh, and I'm now returning the favor - I'm bringing a condensed version of the show to the new One Wall Gallery here at the school where I teach. The show will be going up for a month on the entrance wall to our facility. Our regular shows run 6-8 weeks and take up the walls in both of our main classroom spaces.
