Hello
Can someone tell me what is the difference in performance, if any, between these two M42 lenses:
Pentacon f=3,5/30 mm and Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Lydith f=3,5/30mm
I think that they are optically equivalent (I may be wrong) and I know their prices are substantially different, but are there other differences??.
Thank you for any information
Joao

I suspect these are similar lenses, the change of name being due to the integration of Meyer into Pentacon or a similar event.

For likely such older lenses the condition and whether they've been dropped or not and how well they were cared for and stored in all those years is more important than the theoretical differences in their formulas, assuming there is such a difference. Any dent or sign on the outer threads of a drop?

Oh and stopped down to 5.6 or 8 and both should perform very admirably assuming the elements are aligned properly.

I have the Meyer version andit is indeed very sharp. Before I read the Matanle SLR book I had never heard of it.

Meyer was absorbed into Pentacon in the late 1960s. For some reason the Meyer lens bring more money, but there's not really any big difference between the names, except that some of the later Pentacon lenses were multicoated.
