Moved the house and been without processing for 9 months. Been so long it hurts, and the backlog is building. So what?

So acquired a LF Arca Swiss Model B in the interim to see if it "fits", "give it a try", etc. Fact is, outside of a TLR, I'm finding some of the MF gear can get awkward, heavy, etc. which in part is a brain and not gear issue - truth be told. But bulking down is an idea I've seen some do: Drop the MF and pick up 35mm + LF as a pairing. Again... it's an idea, and so what?

So here's what: I've had good success with my Jobo and scanning for inkjet printing using Portra MF originals and Delta 400. But I'm drawn incredibly to FP4 and the range of midtone grays. This is some of the drive toward LF plus a chance to really do some Zone to answer once and for all... is it worth the bother? Here's my question: I'm wondering whether I should revisit my developer.for these midtone grays. I'm using Bergger's Berspeed which is apparently some form of a Moersch formulation, quite sharp, etc. and I've liked it, but I don't really know what it is. Thinking about D-23 with FP4 for the effort, but wonder whether the whole of the effort for tone will be subverted by rotary processing in a Jobo. If so... then I guess fixing my processing with a machine rather than the old elbow grease might be over. Is this correct?

So far, I've just been happy to be settled enough to shoot again after all these months. Eager to get back to developing, but have to get the plumbing up to snuff. So the mind wanders to these sort of things. Maybe I just need to go out and take a walk. Appreciate any gentle encouragement, correction, etc. you can offer. Thanks!

PS: I think Gerry Koch convinced me to try to stay away from everything Pyro and even Pyrocat... and I"ll admit to some curiosity about Caffenol-CL given Steven Shaub's work. XTOL-R didn't work in the Jobo for me.... but I'd say I'm still open to finding the grays... and whatever it takes. Like to not have to put on a moonsuit to process film, or have to go through dramatic hoops to dispose of waste safely. But not going to get crazy either.
