This thread is so Jr. High School!
Not that it stops me from posting...
Pure DHMO tastes terrible by the way. Bleah.
You're braver than I am. I would never drink pure DHMO. Too risky.
Pardon my ignorance, but in the many years I have been involved with photography, I have never heard or read about DHMO. What does it contribute to the processing of film or paper? I googled DHMO, but I only found groups either wanting to ban or allow DHMO. What is it supposed to do for developers.
Cluelessly,

i know some of you folks use a variety of chemistry,
i'm trying to locate a supplier of PURE-DHMO and i am having trouble.
ive gone to the familiar places as well as local chemical suppliers
but i can't find a good source.
here is the MSDS sheet for it.
have any of you used it before? and should i really be as worried as the sheet suggests ?
thanks!
DHMO - Dihydrogen Monoxide. In photography, it is used to dilute the photographically active chemicals to proper concentration and pH.
DHMO is a constituent of many known toxic substances, diseases and disease-causing agents, environmental hazards and can even be lethal to humans in quantities as small as a thimbleful.
John, John---what a lot of trouble you seem to be going to.
As with most problems, if you just break it down into its fundamental elements the solution [sic] becomes obvious.
Your local welding supply house should be able to sell you the raw materials and all the tools that you will need to synthesize the purest DHMO that you would ever need. If anyone questions your motives, tell them that you have taken up glassblowing as a hobby.
(Do this in cold weather, though--you can support your photographic habit and heat the house, all for the same price.)
Harold
hi tomThat is why I treat mine with hydric acid.
I tried glass blowing once. Burned my lips.
This thread again? Somebody needs to pour water on it and snuff it out.
