Gusi said:Are the semi-erased numbers and markings a sympthom of overdeveloping?
Gusi said:No, the base is not black. It's sort of an uniform gray and darker than another negatives i've developed before with success. The strange are the "overdeveloped" markings (I suppose)
Of course, many thanks about your support.
Gusi said:Do you suggest the numbers get darker with mode developping?
Yes, the more you develop the darker everything will get. The rate it gets darker is related to how much exposure it was given.Do you suggest the numbers get darker with mode developping?
The Ansel Adams book "The Negative" is a good classic text to start with. Or just read through many of the posts here on APUG. A book is better for a novice I would say.Do you know any place where I could read more about this?

L Gebhardt said:Some of the info is dated. It is also not necessary to use the Zone System. But it is not a pack of lies. The descriptions of what happens when you expose and develop film are relevant to all black and white photographers.

I've already written "Sayonara" and ...
I read this ... and I'm going to have to charge you for the price of a box of Depends. That was as close as I've come to wetting my pants in a long time.
It's rare that "Funny" and "Pathetic" are so closely interlaced.
I'll bet you think that a great deal of the entire world is a "pack of lies".
One more try ... Sayonara!!
sterioma said:I strongly agree. I am a beginner myself, and I am only shooting 35mm. Even if maybe I will never apply the Zone System at all, I've learned more studying this book than from any other source.
hansbeckert said:But what you 'learned' was false. How better can I say it?
modafoto said:You could say that you disagree with the book. You have your opnion about Ansel's book, and other may like it.
You can't really objectively call the book's content false. It is just one approach, and your approach is another.
With your style of arguing and your stubborn opinions I am glad that you aren't teaching me photography...sorry to say.
hansbeckert said:It would be more accurate to say that Kodak disagrees with the book. Adams did not have the benefit of access to the large body of research that Kodak had conducted over many years. That research indicates that observers (expert and non-expert) prefer 1:1 ratio of mid-tone reproduction. This is mentioned in the quote above. The zs ignores this principle. As such, many zs images look 'wrong' to the eye. 'Contraction/expansion are the term used in the zs, and it's simply wrong to do it.
All you have to do is forget you ever heard of that book, the zs, or Adams. That's the first step to recovery.

ITS ALL A GIANT CONSPIRACY!!! AND A PACK OF LIES TO BOOT!!!
Michael Scarpitti is correct...Last night when I put on my tinfoil hat to communicate with the Acutol Gods in space they told me that Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, JFK and Ansel Adams were all involved in the Evil Rodinal Plot to take over the world of photography...
They also told me that Michael/Hans has been sent to us to show us the error of our ways and that Acutol must be the new god.
Furthermore, from this point onwards, no one is permitted to have an opinion unless Michael/Hans allows one to. There will no longer be room for personal artistic preference.
ALL HAIL MICHAEL/HANS AND ACUTOL!!!
