Yesterday my dad brought home more camera stuff from my late uncle's house. I was ecstatic to see a Nikon FE and even better, a Nikon F3 among the items. I already have my dad's old F2 that I got "Soverized" earlier this year so I spent the evening messing around with everything. I already had a Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 on my F2, but I got an identical one in the new stuff as well. The problem is that of all the Nikon lenses I have, the latest 50mm is the only one that doesn't want to mount on the FE or F3 for some reason. Anyone have any suggestions? It mounts on my F2 but not the others, and the 50mm that I originally started with mounts on all three. I feel like I'm just doing something stupid but can't figure it out. I put the lens on but it won't rotate to lock---almost like something is blocking it. But absolutely no problem with the other lenses. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It should mount on the FE if you lift the finger for the meter coupling.
Press the button at the lever & lift the end. The metering will work in stopdown mode not full aperture.

If your Nikkor-S is not ai-converted you need to follow the intructions on page 27 of the Nikon F3 manual

http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/archive/F3.pdf

The same for FE.

Edit: Link for identification of non-ai/ai/ai-s mounts Dead Link Removed

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'd seen references to AI/non-AI/AIS mounts but didn't realize what it meant. Still a bit confusing to me but I just need to research a bit more. Guess I'm going to have to go through all the lenses I got and figure out which is which. Thanks again, kazuo.
