..didn't expect this with my Chinon Memotron CE: the camera still fires even when the battery has failed. The shutter trips but does not open, not even on X-synch (which i assumed was mechanically timed). I could hear the camera was misfunctioning when the shutter open/close noises were audibly too short. It's just possible to hear the difference between 1/125 and 1/60, 1/30 even easier. User beware!
