Okay a simple question. First I leave for Yosemite in two days. The only thing I'm worried about is the Tripod head. I normally use my ries tripods but for this trip on a plane I am using a series 3 gitzo tripod. the head is the new giotto ball head with a quick release. The head is strudy enough to work with my 8x10. I also have a gitzo off center ball head with a screw mount instead of the quick release. But hear is my question:
For weight in my backpack I am thinking of using the Giotto vs the Gitzo which is a pound heavier.
Which one would you use and why?
Thanks

The Ries. Get a heavy tube to hold it and check as baggage.
