I just bought a PC cable so that I can use flashes with my old cameras that have no hotshoe. I quickly found out that my SB-28 freezes up if I put it on a camera with a plain shoe. I guess it shorts out the pins. Has anyone ever used tape to isolate the pins from the shoe?

Secondly, my PC cable is not working. I've tried to get it to fire the SB-28 on several cameras and it does not fire via the cable, even with cameras where it fires off the hotshoe. Do I have to set something on the flash to enable the PC connection?

EDIT: it's working now, provided I don't put the flash on the accesory shoe. I must not have pushed the cable on all the way or something.
