I have recently acquired some OLD Tri-X negative 16mm film, I want to try and shoot in an experiment. Has anyone had experience handling this film? What I need to figure out is what ISO I should shoot at and what developer/time/dilution I need. Any help is appreciated and any interesting discussion is encouraged.
Originally Tri-X was rated at 200 ASA, but a revision of the speed systems upped that to 400 ASA in the early 60's. Tri-X varied depending on where it was made. the Kodak developers back in the 60's listed different times for US, Canadian & UK manufactured Tri-X
Depends really what you're going to use it for. It may have picked up some base fog, and will possibly have dropped in speed. Try 200 EI and D76 for 7 or 8 minutes @ 20C.
