Tri-X in Xtol 1:1 (LF)

Hi,

I'd like to get a starting point for processing Tri-X (5x7) in xtol (1:1). Shuffling 4-6 sheets in a tray.

I've done a bit of research and have found ratings of 160-640 but nothing was specific to tray processing.

If you can throw me a starting point I'd appreciate it.

Some claim that XTOL raises the film speed, but I have not noticed that.

I like the results of replenished XTOL better.

I use box speed for all films. I always got good results.

Replenished XTOL gives smoother tonal ranges, enhanced sharpness and good shadow detail.

How you process the film -- tray or tank -- doesn't usually affect the developing time. If you were rotary processing, however, you'd subtract about 15% to compensate for the continuous agitation.

XTOL does, indeed, raise film speed. I used to rate HP5+ at EI 200 when I used to develop in D76. I now shoot at EI 400 and develop in 1:2 XTOL.
