Developed Tri-X recently in D76, fine so far, a bit more grain than I expected.
Would Xtol give me less grain, better tonality, maybe for the price of less contrast ?

Thanks !

I can't comment about Xtol as I have only used a few times, but for finer gain and good tones, but a drop in film speed, you might want to consider Microdol X.

Xtol 1:3 gave me some of the best looking 35mm Tri-X negs I've ever had. I wouldn't say Xtol is vastly superior to D76, but I did like the overall tonality better.

Kodak says you will get finer grain with Xtol than with D-76.
