Does anyone have a suggested "starting point" for development time for Tri-X (TXP) in Ilford Perceptol, either stock or 1:1? I have consulted the "Massive Development Chart" and come-up empty. I know I will need to do some testing, but I do not have any idea as to what time to start with.
From the look of things, Perceptol is a close copy of Microdol-X as ID-11 is a close copy of D-76. So look for some times for Tri-X 320 in Microdol-X and you should be pretty close, if not a dead on match for what you'll need to do with this film in Perceptol. Lacking any other information, that's exactly how I'd proceed with this.
Try setting your film speed at 200 and dev. for 8.5 min. in straight perceptol at 68 degrees or setting speed at 320 and dev. for 12 min. at a dil. of 1:1 . this info. comes from the morgan & morgan darkroom book, which I have found very usefull .
